XXL Expansion of Zalando Fulfillment Center Bleiswijk

In Bleiswijk, Brink Staalbouw completed the XXL steel structure for Zalando’s new fulfillment center, commissioned by Wouters Schijndel. The distribution center was built at the Greenparc business park on the Klappolder and has a total floor area of approximately 140,000 square meters. The complex consists of more than 100,000 m² of warehouse space, nearly 30,000 m² of mezzanine floors, and around 12,000 m² of office space.

We began BIM engineering in 2019 and prepared the erection phase in detail. Later that year, we started installing the steel structure. The steel was supplied fully powder-coated and coordinated with Zalando’s logistics systems and processes.

The fulfillment center has a storage capacity of about 16 million items and serves as a key logistics hub within Europe. From Bleiswijk, Zalando ships products to customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The first package from the new facility was shipped in the summer of 2021.

Sustainability played an important role throughout the development. The building was designed and constructed to meet BREEAM Very Good standards, ensuring high performance in energy use, materials, comfort, and long-term adaptability.

With this project, we contributed to one of the largest and most advanced e-commerce distribution centers in the Netherlands.
