P+R Station Zutphen
Brink Steel Group supplied the steel structure for the P+R parking garage at Zutphen station. It is a unique four-story design with space for 375 cars and 652 bicycle parking spaces. The garage is located on the north side of the railway, in the Noorderhaven district, and forms an important link between the station and the new residential and commercial areas.
The building is designed as a modern warehouse and refers to the industrial history of the site. The parking garage has an open ground level on slender steel columns, timber façade slats, and two characteristic spiral ramps. This creates a dynamic appearance, plenty of daylight, natural ventilation, and a safe feeling for users.
We used approximately 392 metric tons of steel in the structure. The combination of a steel frame with concrete floor slabs results in a slender and efficient construction. The layout is clear and easy to navigate, with logical routes for cars, cyclists, and pedestrians and short walking distances to the platforms.
Thanks to close coordination with our construction partners and tight scheduling, the parking garage was completed within a short construction period. P+R Station Zutphen contributes to better accessibility of the city center and creates an attractive gateway to this Hanseatic city on the River IJssel.
